U16 SOD Slalom

Event notice & registration –
The U16/U18 stage is a critical phase in athlete development, where technical refinement and competitive excellence take center stage. The U16/U18 series is tailored to prepare athletes for advanced competition while maintaining alignment with LTAD principles and providing an inclusive pathway for both age groups.
Race Series Offerings
The U16/U18 race series will focus on key alpine skiing disciplines to promote skill mastery and competitive performance:
- SL (Slalom)
- GS (Giant Slalom)
Additionally, a single bracket offering Cross events will be included based on feedback from the bracket’s head coach. This ensures flexibility in meeting the specific needs of U16/U18 athletes while exposing them to diverse racing formats.
Finals Structure
U16/U18 finals will feature tiered finals, where athletes from various brackets compete based on their team scoring results. This format rewards team collaboration while allowing top athletes to test themselves against the best in their tier. By including U18 athletes in this system, the series supports a smooth transition for older athletes who are refining their skills or preparing for higher competition levels.
OCUP Finals Qualification for U16 ONLY
U16 athletes can access the OCUP (Ontario Cup) finals through a qualifier race. The club-driven quota system allows clubs to select athletes for this provincial competition, ensuring the process is athlete-centered and independent of team results. This structure provides equitable opportunities for U16 athletes to demonstrate their readiness and progress to higher levels of competition.
