Development Ski Programs
The Development programs are a child’s first introduction to ski & snowboard instruction at the club. We are dedicated to building a life long relationship as we share our passion for the sport.
As in the past, add on-snow content to your playschool experience for $20/session when you book into playschool for a half day session. The “Kits” will get the opportunity to get outside, experience sliding, and enjoy small ratios and some time at Matt’s Meadow.
Beavers ( Formerly Parent and Tot Programs)
Come out and learn with your youngster. Our instructors work with you to give your kids a positive, constructive and safe experience. The goal for Beavers is to develop some independence on Matt’s Meadow by the end of programs.
1.5 hrs/weekend. Includes Saturday AM
Beaver’s Group 9 weeks Jan 7 -Mar 5
Beavers Camps Dec 28-31, Jan 3-6 or Mar 13-17 – 10:00-11:30
Young skiers between the ages of 4-10 ready to venture out with friends and an instructor for fun while improving their sliding ability on runs they are most comfortable on.
Development Programs is based on a child’s speed, ability and age. All programs meet at the bottom of Matt’s Meadow at designated signs. It is important to be on time, if your child misses the class departure time by 10 minutes, the parent/guardian assumes the responsibility for finding the child’s class.
Valleys-This group will learn independent control on the meadow (reminder tethers are not recommended), gain guided discovery to the chairlift and some of the Club’s fabulous green terrain.
Foothills- After Valleys, this group will begin to hone skills on more challenging terrain, begin to understand the use of poles and will be skiing in control on Blue runs by the time they exit. Completion of Foothills is the minimum pre-requisite for competitive programs.
Mountains- These skiers will finish this program with safe, parallel skiing on Black terrain. Through mileage & experiencing varied snow conditions, our skiers gain confidence & balance.
* Note: There will be multiple groups within each level to ensure the best fit for maturity and skill. Children are grouped on the 1st weekend & adjustments can be made for the 2nd & 3rd weekend on snow if needed.
The Options: We’ve divided our offerings into four simple options:

Children’s House League!!!!!
House league was initiated 15+ years ago by Katie Nicoll and Peter Hibbard to supplement the Nancy Greene Development group (ages 7 & 8 ) and the Valley Critters group (ages 6+). The philosophy of the House League remains unchanged today, an opportunity for fun, safe, skill development and fair play in an inviting course set in a combination of slalom or panel gates, stubbies or features. The bonus has always been the parent participation, team spirit and a chance for the Club’s coaches and pros to work side by side to benefit our growing athletes.
Katie is still a big part of the experience, working each year to create new team names, ensure fair play and creative course sets to “Up” the fun in each of the four Sunday afternoon sessions. This year’s dates Jan 15, Jan 29, Feb 12 & Feb 26.
This season we will be hosting our races on Eager Beaver terrain adding & expanding on last season’s terrain challenges. We will be on Eager Beaver for house league weekends 1 & 4 ( Jan 15 & Feb 26) and on varied terrain the remaining 2 weekends (Jan 29 & Feb 12). These additional events will have an opportunity for every child to gain a familiarity for the competitive fields and environments that Beaver Valley offers and meet the finest coaches & pros.
Sign up for the Children’s House League experience and we will see you with cow bells to cheer on your child!
