PreSeason Camps

Chile Summer Camp 2017

Beaver Valley Pre Season Camp Info

Location: Sunday River, Newry, Maine, USA

Goal: To provide the best possible race training conditions, for the time of year that is cost effective, productive, and beneficial learning experience for the participants.

Overview: Sunday River is known to have the best snow making capacity in Eastern North America and low enough temperatures during early season to make snow. This makes it the best location for pre-season camps without the added costs of flights and excess baggage to western Canada or the US. They usually open the resort at the end of October. This means that, with their excellent snow making (canons every 10 meters on 80% of their runs) they have plenty of runs open in December. They have a great variety of race training runs available for setting environments and also offer plenty of other runs for free skiing and exploring the mountain. Bottom line; we are more confident to have a successful camp at this time of the year at Sunday River than anywhere else in the east.

Family Camp Dates: December 8 to 12 (4 days skiing, ski on the morning of the 12th and then depart)

Competitive Camp Dates: December 8 to 15 (7 days skiing, ski the morning of 15th and then depart

Please Note: Training groups for Family and Competitive camps will be based on each racers skill level, maturity, commitment & interest.

Travel Plans: All athletes, coaches and parents leave for Sunday River on the 8th. Sunday River is Approx. 9 hour drive from Toronto. If participants wish to fly then you can fly into Boston or Portland Maine and there are private shuttle services to the resort available. Boston is a 3.5 hour drive from the resort and Portland is 1.5 hours away. It is highly recommended to drive.

Accommodation: Dorm style accommodation is a 2 minute drive to the lifts and a shuttle service is provided. Most rooms have 4 bunkbeds for 8 people but we will only put 4 or 5 racers per room so there is ample space for everyone and their gear. All rooms have two washrooms and showers. There is a very large common room with 4 different TV areas. This area is ideal for having groups do video analysis and for the group to relax in the evenings. There are also 3 and 5 person dorm rooms which we will put 2 or 3 coaches in.  The Dorms provide plenty of ski storage and tuning facilities available, internet and table tennis.

The above Dorm style accommodation is recommended for Competition Camp racers aged 12 and older to be accommodated with the other racers and coaches. Their parents are encouraged to stay in the Inn next to the Dorm.

For families with racers aged 11 and younger it is recommended that you stay in the Inn next to the dorm. The Inn can provide you with single, double, triple or quad occupancy rooms and meals will be provided in the dorm cafeteria and on the mountain. (see price structure below)

Meals: Breakfast and dinner will be provided in the dorm and $12 lunch vouchers will be issued to everyone so lunch can be on the mountain. (Vegetarian options are available at all meals)

Hill Space: There will be a training lane available for both the family campers and the competitive campers for each day of skiing. Excluding the first day of skiing which will be a technical free skiing day.

After Skiing Activities: All activities will be coach led and include: dryland fitness, swimming, games, ski tuning and video analysis.

Insurance: All participants are responsible for their own travel insurance that includes air lift evacuation.  This insurance can be purchased through CAA

Camp Cost:

Please note that there are two camps available and pricing is based on a 1 – 7 coach to skier ratio

Pricing will be adjusted if we have less than 7 skiers
